With the internal \u00abK2\u00bb project, Microsoft is fundamentally reorganising its update strategy for Windows 11. After updates have repeatedly caused problems in recent years, the company is now pursuing a clear change of course: less speed, more quality.<\/strong><\/p>

At the centre of K2 is the realisation that although frequent function updates bring innovation, they also increase susceptibility to errors. Instead, Microsoft will focus more on stability, reliability and an overall more consistent user experience in future. Updates should lead to fewer system crashes or unexpected behaviour and be better tested overall before they are rolled out.<\/p>

An important part of this reorganisation is the overhaul of Windows Update itself. Users are to be given more control, for example through more flexible options for pausing updates and a reduction in forced restarts.
