Experience report from the "fast car fire"

It was an ordinary day when I got into my car and was on my way to work. But what happened next would forever remind me how dangerous seemingly harmless everyday objects can be.

During my journey, I noticed a strange odour spreading through the interior of the car. At first, I couldn't determine where this unpleasant odour was coming from. But then my eyes fell on the floor of the car, where I had put my mobile phone charging cable. It was lying there on the carpet and appeared undamaged. But suddenly I realised that the cable was strangely deformed and darkened in one place. I panicked as I realised that the cable seemed to be heating up and could possibly catch fire.

I immediately stopped the car in a safe place at the side of the road and pulled the charging cable out of the socket. The heat was palpable and I could see small plumes of smoke rising from the cable. With shaky hands, I placed the burning cable on the ground and stepped on it to smother the flames.

Once the fire was almost under control, I was able to take a deep breath and shudder at the thought of what could have happened. A brief moment of carelessness, a misplaced cable - and my car could have caught fire, which would not only have endangered my life, but also the lives of other road users.

This event was a powerful lesson for me about the importance of safety when using electronics and the potential dangers that can lurk in everyday things. It reminds us how important it is to carefully monitor electronic devices and their accessories and watch for signs of wear or damage to avoid accidents like this one. Sometimes it's the little things that remind us how precious our safety is.
