Lindt & Sprüngli enhances endpoint security and saves a great deal of time with Endpoint Central

About Lindt & Sprüngli

Lindt & Sprüngli AG, based in Switzerland, is a renowned international chocolate manufacturer with a global presence. With around 13,500 employees worldwide, the company achieved a significant turnover of 4.97 billion US dollars in 2022. The German subsidiary, Lindt & Sprüngli GmbH, has its headquarters in Aachen.

Problem statement

  • Tool complexity
  • Inability to manage multiple endpoints from a single console
  • Inadequate patch automation by third-party providers

Until 2022, the IT department at Lindt & Sprüngli GmbH used Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) for software distribution and patch management. However, as the tool was very complex and not user-friendly, the IT team sought a more flexible and intuitive alternative. They were looking for an alternative solution that could meet all their endpoint management requirements within a single console, thereby eliminating the need for multiple tools.

Given Lindt’s positive experience with ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus, which it has been using for its helpdesk operations since 2017, its IT team wanted to explore ManageEngine’s unified endpoint management solution: Endpoint Central.

«We quickly realised that Endpoint Central was well suited to our needs and should be implemented in our network.»

The solution

Lindt & Sprüngli adopted Endpoint Central from ManageEngine to replace their previous complex and less user-friendly endpoint management solution. The new platform provided a unified console that simplified tasks such as software deployment, patch management and remote troubleshooting. It enabled the IT team to automate updates for both Microsoft and third-party applications, thereby reducing manual effort and ensuring that devices remained secure and up to date without the need for specialist knowledge.

The solution’s role-based permissions enabled the IT team to assign access rights tailored to each employee’s responsibilities, allowing more team members to contribute to endpoint management. Furthermore, the Secure Gateway Server helped the organisation to efficiently update devices used by field staff, even when they were outside the corporate network or did not have a VPN connection. This improved both operational efficiency and device security, and helped Lindt to maintain consistent endpoint management across all sites.

«Not only does this save us a lot of time, but it is also crucial for maintaining the security of our devices. We have seen a marked improvement here – a significant advantage.»

Roland Rüssel Head of IT Services at Lindt & Sprüngli AG

In addition to routine updates, Endpoint Central supported Lindt’s security requirements by enabling the rapid deployment of patches to address vulnerabilities identified during inspections. The platform also introduced advanced features such as anti-ransomware and tools to prevent endpoint data loss, which enhance overall protection. By optimising endpoint management and strengthening security measures, Endpoint Central helped Lindt’s IT team to respond more effectively to threats and manage its infrastructure more efficiently.
